Another interesting outcome!

The Ultrafast Optical Spectroscopy group (GUFOS) at Friedrich-Schiller-University in Jena led by Prof. Giancarlo Soavi, presented encouraging results.
Sebastian Klimmer, the author of the published paper at Nature Photonics, demonstrated second harmonic generation in 2D-materials to be used as all-optical switches which showed unprecedented speed and modulation depth of close to 100%. Find the paper here: Link
In this setup the fundamental frequency was delivered by one of our Optical Parametric Oscillators (OPO), so called Levante IR fs.
This outcome could lead to many useful applications from fast optical switching, high-speed frequency converters and atomically thin optically tunable nonlinear holograms.
We congratulate the team for their excellent work and we are on the lookout of future results.
