AVUS Short-pulse Debuts at Photonics West 2018January 18th, 2018
A short-pulse version of AVUS from APE debuts at SPIE BIOS & Photonics West in San Francisco (27 January – 1 February 2018) as part of the Optical Parametric Amplifier (OPA) product line. OPAs from APE are frequency converters for femtosecond laser used for spectroscopy and microscopy applications.
With respect to microscopy applications, the new AVUS SP with shorter pulses of 70 fs (and below) will increase the imaging contrast and improve the signal-to-noise ratio. The improvement is due to more efficient beam-to-sample interaction because of the higher peak power of the shorter pulses.
Both, the short-pulse version – mainly for microscopy – and the standard version – for spectroscopy – (about 200 fs) cover a tuning range of UV, VIS and IR, depending on the configuration. The systems with fully integrated tuning und automatic wavelength separation are extremely user-friendly.
The unique combination of air cooling and high pumping power makes AVUS the best tunable amplifier for many multi-photon experiments.
