picosecond Titanium:Sapphire

Levante Emerald - An alternative picosecond light source for the Ti:Sa wavelength range

In the fascinating world of ever-evolving laser technologies, there are some gems that have made a lasting impression. One such gem is the Levante Emerald, an optical parametric oscillator (OPO) pumped with visible light (VIS) to generate ultra-short and narrow band picosecond pulses in the Titanium:Sapphire (Ti:Sa) wavelength range – and beyond.

The Levante OPO implementation provides an extremely stable pulse train thanks to its industry-grade pump laser. This pump source features ultra-stable mode-locking and its fully automated operation requires no manual user input other than turning the key to “on”. Another invaluable feature of this OPO is its automatic wavelength adjustment. There is no longer a need to manually turn knobs or adjust mirrors – the desired wavelength is simply entered into the control software and the OPO adjusts and tunes itself. The addition of a built-in spectrometer enables the Levante Emerald to constantly monitor its output wavelength and tune as needed.

With direct output wavelengths as high as 2.2 µm and the potential for upgrades and augmentation via APE’s broad product line (pulse pickers, spectral shapers, and wavelength conversion modules to name a few), the Levante Emerald OPO is one of the most flexible and capable laser tools available today.
