Dr. Edlef Büttner

Founder

After years in academia that include the study of physics at the Technical Institute of Dresden and later brought him to the Academy of Sciences in Berlin, Edlef joined the Zentrum für wissenschaftlichen Gerätebau (Centre of Scientific Equipment Design) in 1981. Through a combination of highly practical work and close partnerships with companies such as Carl Zeiss Jena, Edlef has developed an excellent sense of how to find innovative solutions via technology. When working at the Centre Edlef met Jan Popien und Thomas Lindemann, and quickly decided to apply his technical as well as entrepreneurial skills by co-founding APE in 1992. Until December 2014 Edlef was managing director of APE. Since January 2015 he withdraws from business operations and together with the other co-founders he forms a new department which concentrates on strategic and technical tasks forming the future of the company.
