APE GmbH was founded in 1992 by Thomas Lindemann, Jan Popien and Edlef Büttner.
The founders and managing directors of APE come from the former Akademie der Wissenschaften, the leading research institute of the former German Democratic Republic. After the German reunification they ventured to make the step to their own business. They have been steering a course of a solid expansion since then.
The two engineers and the physicist with their longstanding experience in laser technology started off by designing a user-friendly autocorrelator for scientific applications. Since then APE has developed an extensive product range of accessories for the ultrafast laser market. Headquartered in Berlin, Germany, the company now employs 55 people and sells its products partly directly, partly via distributors in over 40 countries.
Development, design and manufacturing from one source allow APE to very flexibly meet the requirements of its customers. High quality standards, close contact with the customers and the knowledge and commitment of the APE team are the foundation for of the company's success.
