Wavelength Conversion

This product line comprises products, which are based on non-linear optical wavelength conversion. The primary techniques are optical parametric oscillation and harmonics generation.

An optical parametric oscillator is a laser device in which in a nonlinear process one short wavelength pump photon is split into two longer wavelength photons (Signal and Idler). The wavelength of Signal and Idler are not independent from each other, but can be tuned in wavelength, making the OPO a tunable laser source.

The APE optical parametric oscillators (OPOs) are synchronously pumped OPOs based on purely solid state materials and capable of operating in the picosecond as well as femtosecond range of pulse widths.

They can be directly operated with laser oscillators without additional amplifiers as pump source. The OPOs are manufactured in different versions to cover various output parameters.

The OPO Pumped Tuned generates femtosecond and picosecond pulses in the IR and VIS range and is synchronously pumped by a mode-locked Ti:Sapphire laser.

The OPO PP Auto FAN, also designed for operation with mode-locked Ti:Sapphire lasers, is based on periodically poled crystals offering high conversion efficiency and wide tuning ranges with fixed pump wavelengths. The FAN-Crystal offers full flexibility in pump- and OPO Signal output wavelength combined with automated tuning. This is particularly useful for 2-color applications.
The Levante IR was developed for applications which need an excitation spectral bandwidth of about 3 cm-1, or a pulse width of a few picoseconds, respectively. The Levante IR is pumped by a mode-locked picosecond Nd:Vandate laser and delivers tunable radiation in the Infrared with high average power.

The Levante Emerald is pumped by a frequency doubled Nd:Vanadate laser. Pumping in the green offers access to a different wavelength range of the OPO compared to pumping at the fundamental. These are especially suited for CARS, SRS or multimodal microscopy as a combination of these techniques.

The Levante Emerald is available in a picosecond as well as in a femtosecond version.
The picoEMERALD was especially designed with the requirements for CARS- and coherent RAMAN microscopy in mind. It is an automated and computer controlled hands-free version of the Levante Emerald with the pump laser integrated into the same housing. It is the first integrated light source that meets the needs of a variety of coherent Raman and related spectroscopical applications.

The Chameleon Compact OPO is the first completely hands-free, fully automated and computer controlled OPO, which - as specific feature - is fully flexible in the pump and OPO output wavelengths at the same time. This allows the use of any wavelength combination between the pump and OPO Signal. Together with the Chameleon pump laser from Coherent it is the perfect excitation source for MPE (Multiphoton Excitation) microscopy.
The product line HarmoniXX is a series of frequency converters for ultrafast fs- and ps- lasers, Ti:Sapphire lasers in particular, but also for other wavelength ranges. The frequency conversion is based on nonlinear interaction in one or multiple crystals. It covers frequency doubling (SHG) and tripling (THG) as well as quadrupling (FHG), with a modular structured instrument to make the instrument upgradable.

The instrument is designed for easy exchange of the nonlinear crystals and with an autotracker (optional) to track the wavelength change from automated Ti:Sapphire lasers and to adjust the nonlinear crystals accordingly.
