The femtosecond version of the Emerald OPO is pumped by the SHG (523 nm) of a femtosecond modelocked Ytterbium-laser covering <690 to 980 nm in the Signal and from 1120 to >2150nm in the Idler wavelength range with pulse lengths of around 300 fs, thus replacing a standard fs Ti:Sapphire laser plus OPO and is accordingly more cost efficient.
Those pulses are transform limited, show high beam quality and great pointing stability at the same time. The tuning covers a wide wavelength range; it is easy to use, fast and PC controllable.
With the pump laser wavelengths of 1045 nm and 523 nm pulses in four different wavelengths are accessible simultaneously which are intrinsically locked in time and jitter free. The system is ideal for applications such as multimodal multi photon microscopy including multiphoton fluorescence, SHG, THG and CARS, since the difference frequency between Signal and 1045 nm or Signal and Idler are continuously tuneable from 635 cm-¹ up to 9850 cm-¹ .
Further the pulses of 300 fs are long enough to eliminate the need of prechirping the pulses before entering the microscope, since the dispersion effect can be neglected.
